Real-time monitoring and data health tracking for longitudinal experiments
Supervisors: Moreno Colombo, Julien Nembrini, Denis Lalanne

Project status: Open
Year: 2026
The goal of this project is to develop a web-based dashboard to monitor ongoing experiments conducted through the SWICE app. The dashboard focuses on tracking data flow and participant engagement in real time. For example, experimenters should be able to verify in real time that mobility data is successfully transmitted for each participant, flag participation rate drop, and identify uncompleted surveys. Beyond live tracking, the focus will be put on developing new metrics to simplify the live following of experiments (e.g., computing an automated "data health score" for each participant's compliance to the experiment based on data completeness, correctness and active participation), to alert experimenters detect when and which kind of intervention is needed from their side. Finally, the student will design and conduct a user evaluation with experimenters to assess the dashboard's impact on awareness of the state of the experiment.
